Hi girls, have you ever noticed that sometimes (we absolutly don’t know why) even if our wardrobe is full of jackets, dresses, blouses, shoes, etc. it’s impossible to know how to dress… Well, I have found a solution : – Open your warderobe and close your eyes… – Take three clothes… – Open your eyes again… – Play with your sense of creativity and add to your outfit some accessories… – Be self confident with your blind choice…
And then you’ll get a great and original look :) I’ve made the test on myself and here below is the “flashy” result :

Leather skirt : Maje and Denim shirt : Zara

Flower and sunglasses : H&M, Black hat vintage

Ring Cabochon in cristal : Lalique

Green shoes : Zara

Revise all your preppy codes with “Comptoir des Cotonniers”

October 22, 2011 |  by  |  Fashion etc  |  No Comments
For this fall/winter collection, the french label “Comptoir des cotonniers” has revisited all the preppy codes : duffle coats, mini-skirts, Shetland sweaters with chic British colors : bottle green, muted blue and London green…
With a 60′s Sorbonne influence, rockin’ black is replaced by floral bohemian in warm tones…
Irish coquetry, soft knit, impeccably cut skirt suits, the feminine/masculine look takes on a countryside feel with an eccentric touch.

Like “The kooples”, “Comptoir des cotonniers” has been using for several years an original concept of promotion. Each season via a casting, the label offers to mothers and their daughters to be models for its advertising campaign.

The label has also developed both in french and in english a cool blog called : brevesdestyles.com

The Chanel and Hermès vintage paradise

The Chanel and Hermès vintage paradise

September 30, 2011 |  by  |  Fashion etc  |  3 Comments
Today, I’d like to give you two great tips for your next “vintage” fashion weekend in Paris.
Bag : Hermès 40cm Birkin Bag, in etruscan calfbox from “Les 3 marches de Catherine B”
(Hat : Sandro, Sunglasses : RayBan Wayfarer, Tee-shirt : T-Bar, Jeans : Massimo Dutti, Shoes : Minelli)

Dedicated in collecting the most luxurious authentic vintage pieces from Hermès and Chanel. The “must” address that the worldwide collectors are sharing with each others.

From her charming boutique in the center of Paris, where she has collected more than a thousand pieces the last 20 years, Catherine explains us her passion :

- When and why did you get the idea to open your boutique ?

Catherine : My passion for the labels Hermès and Chanel is my leitmotiv, I quickly wanted to share this passion in a place where I could buy and sell exceptional pieces.

- What is the piece which you are the most proud of it?
C : The first “Birkin” bag of the House Hermès created by Jane Birkin in 1984. In May 2000, an auction was organized and I had the great happiness of winning this mythical piece.

- What is the price of a “Birkin” bag in your shop?
C : Prices vary depending on the condition of the bags, but there are no discounts on the Birkin bags. It costs between 6800 euros for a 35 cm “leather Hermės Courchevel” sold out in the Hermès catalog and more than 30 000 euros for pieces in crocodile porosus.
- Do you have an anecdote to tell us?
C : Few months after opening my shop, I received a visit from a gentleman who seemed very interested in Hermès bags. I gave him a “lesson” on the leatherwork and how to maintain them. It turned out that this gentleman was a very important person in the Hermès House, he was pretty much satisfied with my presentation and told me good luck with my business! :)
1 rue Guisarde 75006 Paris
To conclude another nice adress in the same area : La maison de FANFAN where you can find many vintage bags, clothes and accessories from Prada, Dior, Chanel, Hermès…

Where to do

Where to do “Kooples” shopping ?

September 23, 2011 |  by  |  Designers, Fashion etc  |  2 Comments
The french label The kooples was launched by three brothers in 2008. Since then, it’s a success story.
Each season, I like the “new classic” of the house which has, as they say, ”a vicious precision in lean shoulders, narrow sleeves, knife-edge tailoring”.
But the originality of the label is also its ingenious marketing strategy to promote the collections around the concept of the couples. The models are ordinary couples who “The Kooples” picks up directly from the streets in Paris, Berlin, Londres, Amsterdam… or on social networks like myspace, facebook…
The label has also launched “The kooples record”, a great initiative which gives the oppotunity to musicians who are in couple to present their own music.

Now, let me show you their autumn/winter collection which is strongly inspired from the 30s and 80s. “It steals gunmetal grey from the Paris rooftops, finds Royal Navy blues in the waters of the Canal Saint Martin. Bloody Bordeaux reds are blotted by the discreet green of the Chesterfield in a Pall Mall Club”.

To find out where are their stores (about 180 points of sale) click here or go directly on the e-boutique.

A “hat trick” in three clicks, un “coup de chapeau” designed by Cerise

September 16, 2011 |  by  |  Fashion etc, interview  |  1 Comment
After shoes last week, I would like to talk to you about another important accessory : Hat. Imagine that you could create your own hat in 3 clicks. That’s possible for 145 euros with the french label : La cerise sur le chapeau (translation : the cherry on the hat). A hand maker hats for you women and also for your guys ;)

Cerise (which is her firstname) is the creator of this fresh brand launched in 2007 .

She’s explained to me more about her concept, in exclusivity for Flingly:

How did you decide to launch this concept?

Cerise : The idea of my concept came to me naturally. When I was a little girl, I always wore my grandfather’s hats, a very elegant gentleman of his generation (when hats were part of everyday life, a time that unfortunalty is pretty much gone). After studying Art history, then a journey across several continents, and a few years working for an art auction company where I discovered many treasures, a certainty came me : Hats are a great creative platform and a real “art de vivre”!
The idea was very simple and based on revisiting our grandparents’ classics adding a simple modern touch. How ? with a palette of colors ranging from grey to the most flashy ones. The goal: create collections that are easy to wear in order to enlighten our quotidian!
It’s up to you, to choose, according to your desires, the color of the felt and the wrap or the fabric of the hat that you would like, as well as to color-coordinate the ribbon…and here you are with your own tailor-made hat… That’s “La cerise sur le chapeau” !

What kind of hats do you create?

C : We offer varieties of models according to the seasons but our best one is the “Trendy! Masculin-féminin.” The timeless from the 40′s, in felt color taupe or antilope for the winter, or in rush from Ecuador (panama fino) for the summer. It’s simple, elegant and above all it gives a single attitude without being too much !

What kind of assemblage do you suggest us, what is the trend for this season?

C : There is no trend! You are your own magician, with your own tastes, desires and influences !

To conclude : a “celebrity” question… Who is your most famous customer?

C : I know that Kate Moss bought one of our hats in London. Some French actresses and singers but also some male politicians are wearing our creations.

So now, It’s time for me to leave you with your inspiration… If you want to create your own hat, go to lacerisesurlechapeau.com. And if you are in Paris, you can go to the workshop 11 rue Cassette 75006. La Cerise sur le chapeau is also available in different point of sales in Roma, London and Hamburg. Hats for sale in these stores have fixed colors and sizes…

Are you Neuneu or Zazou? Let your feet find out…

September 9, 2011 |  by  |  Flingly, interview  |  2 Comments
I discovered the french label Jancovek a few months ago during a shopping spree in the chic and trendy street “Cherche midi” in the 6th district of Paris. A love at first sight that I would like to share with you, for its colorful and playful but nevertheless very elegant shoes. “Girly and a bit retro”, I like their medium heels which is an  important detail for us women : being confortable in pretty shoes, isn’t it?

After having collaborate with prestigious high fashion houses such as Chanel and Sonia Rykiel, Sandie Jancovek decided to launch her own label in 2007. Five years later Jancovek shoes are selling pretty much all around the world.

I’ve asked Sandie, just for you Fingly’s readers, to answer a few questions :

What do shoes represent for you?
S.J : It’s “the” ultimate accessory because we can’t do without it. It allows to stylize the look and give a little more sparkle to the silhouette.

What is your leitmotiv each time you create a new model?
S.J : I like singular things that we are not used to see, so it’s in this direction I’m trying to go each time I work on a new collection.Which type of women your creations are for?
S.J : For a woman who doesn’t take herself seriously.

What has inspired you for this winter collection?
S.J : A cartoon from the 70′s called in french “Les fous du volant”* : Diabolo, Satan and Penelope Jolicoeur… A childish atmosphere which meets my current desires.

* “Les fous du volant” : The crazy race car drivers

How many pairs of shoes do you have in your wardrobe? And if you had to keep only one of them which would it be?
S.J : I would say 200 pairs… :) And if I should keep only one, it would be a pair of Chanel HC offered to me by the bootmaker Mr Massaro.

Now, you know a little more about the label Jancovek, I invite you to discover the world of Sandie via the winter 2011/2012 collection with the houndstooth fabric which is one of this season’s must-have!

My favorite models are the “Zazou” and “Neuneu”. What about you?
