This week, I went to explore my boyfriend wardrobe and I found some great things like this pair of vintage braces and this nice tie from Bottega Veneta. It gaves me the idea to create my own “boyish look” (one of the trend this season)

Hi girls, have you ever noticed that sometimes (we absolutly don’t know why) even if our wardrobe is full of jackets, dresses, blouses, shoes, etc. it’s impossible to know how to dress… Well, I have found a solution : – Open your warderobe and close your eyes… – Take three clothes… – Open your eyes again… – Play with your sense of creativity and add to your outfit some accessories… – Be self confident with your blind choice…
And then you’ll get a great and original look

For this fall/winter collection, the french label “Comptoir des cotonniers” has revisited all the preppy codes : duffle coats, mini-skirts, Shetland sweaters with chic British colors : bottle green, muted blue and London green…
With a 60′s Sorbonne influence, rockin’ black is replaced by floral bohemian in warm tones…
|
|
Irish coquetry, soft knit, impeccably cut skirt suits, the feminine/masculine look takes on a countryside feel with an eccentric touch.
|
The label has also developed both in french and in english a cool blog called : brevesdestyles.com

New York Fashion Week is finally over and I’m back on my goals; Building my journalism career and fashion business. A key element to a thriving fashion career, especially in writing about fashion, is to stay ahead of trends, updated and connected.
The fashion industry can be a complicated and crazy competitive environment that changes rapidly. The following are the must tools in your fashion writer arsenal: reading, attending events and meetups, exploring new design ideas and covering uprising designers.
You may be asking yourself, how do you get to attend these events, or cover interesting designers? To get started, build your profile, work on your blog, create interesting content. Then, start reaching out to P.R. agencies, introduce yourself and tell about your ambitions and how you’d contribute to the exposure of their designers. If they’ll like what you wrote, you’ll start getting invitations to events, and from there making connections and creating relationships. That’s how I made my way into my first NYFW.
Being a journalist is all about bringing an interesting story, with your own touch and from your personal perspective and that is exactly what I am able to do thanks to my blog, which is currently a window to all my activities.
Next, become involved. There are great fashion blogger scenes and lists that feature your posts and get you more exposure, driving traffic to your blog. Get yourself familiar with those networks, post your stories there, participate in discussions and contribute your perspective, all while sharing your blog.
Tune in for the following posts where I’ll share my personal experience and ideas, making it as a fashion writer in NYC.
Meanwhile, enjoy some of my favorite moments from the NY Fashion Week.
I am usually a “more is more”-person, but lately I´ve been hung up on “barely there” jewelry. Understated and delicate jewelry. Yesterday I found this bracelet in an interior shop. The owner had arrived from Paris the day before, and had bought these bracelets at a market stand. The necklace I am wearing is a dear gift I got from my husband right after we met many years ago.
It is of course no coincidence that I have a hangup on delicate jewelry these days. The fashion blogs and stores are full of similar items, and that influence is contagious. Here are some other items:

Ring, bracelet and necklace from Su Misura.
Necklace from Zadig & Voltaire.
Star studs from Julie Sandlau.

Do you wear sneakers? I love wearing flat shoes, although it obviously looks quite better having some centimeters more with heels… but sometimes flat shoes are just a neccessity! And good sneakers can be the right casual detail. I love how these bloggers have created nice sporty-chic outfits with focus on their sneakers, they’re by Vans, Isabel Marant, Adidas… And you can even wear a sequined skirt with burgundy sneakers, and it will be definitely look good!

Last week I attended Rachel Zoe Fall/Winter collection 2012 at the Fashion Avenue. Being a big fan of hers and haven’t missed even one episode from her reality show, it was an unforgettable experience to meet her in person and cover her fashion show.
I admire her determination and hard working personality.Launching her own line of clothing and taking new directions in her career shouldn’t be easy but must be absolutely gratifying after all.
In her collection I loved the bright colors and the light materials; a lot of silk, glitter and lace which are my favorites.
What do you think about the collection?
I have always preferred conservative colours like white, navy blue, greens etc mixed with a smaller unexpected color detail. But this fall I´m very inspired by all the different colour combinations, or color explosion is perhaps a better description. How would anyone believe that its the fall/winter collection we´re talking about? Bye bye to all dull fall colors like grey, beige, black – at least on their own. And hello, lilacs, pinks, blues and orange´s! So far, my favorite color combination this fall is pink or lilac mixed with green! I´d really like an emerald green coat or jacket which I can wear with my lilac feather stole from Zara. Its mixing the traditional colors with the untraditional ones! Unexpected and, wow so fabulous!
Anyway, this is one of my early fall outfits. Unfortunately, these days I need to wear an outdoor jacket and fall shoes.. Bare toes these days only brings a cold – which I´d prefer to avoid. Perhaps I´ll put on socks, and use my pink shoes during october anyway. As I have previously proclaimed , I do loooove these shoes…

I like having some dresses in my closet waiting for parties to go to. Therefore I have problems passing a dress I like without buying it – especially if it´s a bargain. This Baum & Pferdgarten dress is a bargain, and this weekend I finally got to use it when I attended a birthday party.

After shoes last week, I would like to talk to you about another important accessory : Hat. Imagine that you could create your own hat in 3 clicks. That’s possible for 145 euros with the french label : La cerise sur le chapeau (translation : the cherry on the hat). A hand maker hats for you women and also for your guys
Cerise (which is her firstname) is the creator of this fresh brand launched in 2007 . She’s explained to me more about her concept, in exclusivity for Flingly:
How did you decide to launch this concept?
Cerise : The idea of my concept came to me naturally. When I was a little girl, I always wore my grandfather’s hats, a very elegant gentleman of his generation (when hats were part of everyday life, a time that unfortunalty is pretty much gone). After studying Art history, then a journey across several continents, and a few years working for an art auction company where I discovered many treasures, a certainty came me : Hats are a great creative platform and a real “art de vivre”! What kind of hats do you create? C : We offer varieties of models according to the seasons but our best one is the “Trendy! Masculin-féminin.” The timeless from the 40′s, in felt color taupe or antilope for the winter, or in rush from Ecuador (panama fino) for the summer. It’s simple, elegant and above all it gives a single attitude without being too much ! What kind of assemblage do you suggest us, what is the trend for this season? C : There is no trend! You are your own magician, with your own tastes, desires and influences !
To conclude : a “celebrity” question… Who is your most famous customer? C : I know that Kate Moss bought one of our hats in London. Some French actresses and singers but also some male politicians are wearing our creations.
So now, It’s time for me to leave you with your inspiration… If you want to create your own hat, go to lacerisesurlechapeau.com. And if you are in Paris, you can go to the workshop 11 rue Cassette 75006. La Cerise sur le chapeau is also available in different point of sales in Roma, London and Hamburg. Hats for sale in these stores have fixed colors and sizes…

It has been only a week and I’m back again to share with you several new & exciting updates from the fashion world and my personal projects.
I’m happy to announce that in the following weeks I will be covering the MBFW 2012 (Mercedes Benz Fashion Week)!
Here are a couple of my favorite designers whose shows I’ve been invited to:
- Rolando Santana – One of my favorite uprising designers. Rolando’s stunning black leather dresses just swift me of my feet!
- Marlon Gobel – Known for his daring and glamorous menswear and for his collaboration with the king of “shoe makers”, Christian Louboutin.
And there’s still a long list of fashion shows that I’ll share with you soon.
As you can imagine, another great aspect of attending fashion shows is to express your own unique personality and style. I’m only a week away from the first show and I still haven’t decided on the outfits I will wear.
Surprisingly, I know exactly which shoes and accessories I want to wear but I’m still in search of unique clothing. This weekend I’ll have enough time to check all my favorite fashion spots in Manhattan and do some shopping! : )
Here are some pictures of the shoes and accessories that I’m considering to wear.
Before leaving you for another week, I’m very curious to know your opinion and suggestions. What would be your perfect outfit and accessories for the New York fashion shows?
- Can’t wait to read your comments!
Have a great week end and don’t miss the next post, where I’ll share my visit to the Independent Fashion Bloggers (IFB) conference on September 7th featuring many interesting bloggers and a special appearance by Joe Zee, Creative director at Elle.
It has been raining for a long time in Tokyo, but the beautiful sunshine came out this week! Color block always make me feel warm and happy. I think it is the best combination in a sunny day:)
hat—DIY blouse—vintage skirt pants—page boy shoes—vintage bag—www.romwe.com
tips in this outffits: salmon pink, turquoise blue and red are the best color combination, you could add a little yellow or gold accessories for it:)
I hope you don’t mind my poor English, just enjoy!
see you the next time, all of you lovely:D
I got my first fashion epiphany went I moved to London as a 19 year old. I discovered vintage. On every corner I saw women and men that looked like they had come out of movies. And my favourite kind as well. The grainy old movies where women and men really knew how to dress. I started to understand that the pieces that were lovingly being re-sold had somehow stood the test of time. That hand sewn leather bag, or that amazing dress had maybe waited for years in a dark closet before it was sent away, only to end up in my hands. I suddenly understood that items like a beautiful vintage belt or an old silk scarf could really change an outfit.
In London I saw women who almost looked like they belonged to another time, and I learned to find my balance. I like mixing vintage with more contemporary pieces for a more updated look. Still, I envy those women who manage to look like they belong in an old movie. I love fashion because it has nothing to do with practicality. It has to do with emotions, visuals, and with confidence. I love vintage items because they have soul. This is why I believe vintage items will never go out of fashion – because they appeal to our emotions.
When I one day “grow up” and create my own home, I cant imagine it without touches of vintage, mixed with modern of course. For now I’ll let the majority of vintage items I own find a home in my closet… at least until they one day maybe find their way into another vintage-lovers arms.

I am wearing vintage dress from Hong Kong, shoulder bag from H&M, shoes from Nelly, bangle from Indiska.
How could I have missed this?? I now understand how deeply I´m into project work with Flingly right now. I am missing all such information that I would normally get at an early stage. Yesterday I came to know that one of my favorite home designers, Missoni, is launching a line for the american highstreet store Target. Last year Mulberry designed a line for Target (Flingly gave away Mulberry for Target bags), and this time all fans of the italian luxury brand Missoni should get in line – if you´re lucky enough to live nearby a Target store – or visiting one around september 13th.
Unfortunately I´m not even close to a Target store, or anything american in september. (I´ll be more or less in front of my computer the whole month…) However, I hope Missoni for Target will be able to offer better quality to the items, than Mulberry was able to do last year. I was somehow a bit surprised that a luxury brand like Mulberry would put their name behind products that were quite poor quality wise. But it might be more different with fabrics compared to leather / faux leather. Nevertheless, I would be really happy if some of the items above, suddenly came to my door. I wouldn´t exactly turn down a Missoni bike with a brown leather seat. Would you?
See the full Missoni for Target collection here.

My last pimped up rain boots are from Ebay. The had a lot of chains and buckles going on, they made a lot of noise when I walked, and they lasted two rainy days before they leaked water.
This fall I would really like to experience rainy days in these biker-ish rain boots from Burberry. Unfortunately Burberry.com don´t ship to Norway, though, but I had an uplifting mail conversation with the Burberry customer service. So hopefully I will somehow be able to get hold of these cool boots. Now I just need the perfect rain coat!
Do you Like the Isabel Marant´s fall 2011 collection? Fringed boots in colors like white, grey and black was repeatedly shown on the runway and all though the fringed Marant boot has a heel, high street stores are now offering fringed boots in any shapes & colors.
Like this tan colored flat boot with fringes from Zara that just recently arrived the stores. I like the color, and a flat boot is more practical (if fashion ever is…).
I haven´t decided whether to buy them yet, allthough I think I might need to hurry, as they have already run out of smaller sizes.
What do you think?
Price: NOK 1399,-
Earlier this summer I came across these fantastic disco shoes by Jeffrey Campbell. You can get them in black and brown leather as well as silver and also in this multicolored one that comes with a disco feel. Which one did I choose? The mutlicolored disco of course. Haven´t use them yet, though, but they´ll make a real cool asset on display. But soon, I´m gonna take the chance , get out of my comfort zone and wear them – probably to work, and I´ll even capture the outfit on photo as well. Cant miss it!
As soon as I unwrapped the package they came in, I proudly showed them to my boyfriend and my mother. My boyfriend´s reaction was expected, when he asked me hoping I would give him the reply he wished for.
My boyfriend:
- Did you buy these??? (as if he finally hoped that this was just one of the items I would return.)
My mother:
- Oh no, Hege, you are not seriously considering wearing these?
Well, I still haven´t returned them and yes, I will for sure use them. I´ll be a disco queen for one day. At least.
I bought my Jeffrey Campbell shoes at Nelly.com, however they seem to have run out of the multicolored one, but they still got the one in silver (and brown & black leather too).
So now we are close to launching our fabulous Flingly fashion magazine world. This means that we from now on will work more editorial and less with design and development.
My gorgeous new notebook from Mulberry is ready for the challenge, but it is kind of too gorgeous to start on… I better bring out my best handwriting for this one!
Having a birthday during summer is perfect! At least when the sun is still shining at 10 p.m and everyone makes that extra effort to make you happy all day long. As my family did – playing badminton with me. Barefeet (after 5 minutes of running back and forth with heels) in the grass – gives you this feeling of perfection and happiness – a beautiful day which you will keep in your heart forever and ever.
Having a birthday during summer also has another advantage. Designer stuff on sale. During spring I discovered an olive colored bag from Marc Jacobs, and I was really tempted to buy it just to spoil myself. All the girls at Flingly agreed with me of course. If you ever need some convincing to add something to your wardrobe – support is never far away at the Flingly office. However, sometimes I have some common sense left, and decided to wait for my birthday, as someone might surprise me if they could read my mind… Well, what actually happened was that this bag suddenly came on sale the day before going on holiday, and my extremely kind boyfriend bought it while I turned my back to forget what was happening – and a gift wrapped package-kinda-looking-like-a-bag was stored away in our closet until my birthday arrived some weeks later. I was very happy when I finally could unwrap it, though, I “almost” forgot he had bought it.
In addition to having a generous boyfriend, I also have a generous family. My mum & dad gave me the Missoni cushions I have been longing for… Looking forward to redecorating my living room. I think they would make a great focal point…
My outfit:
Jacket by H&M, Orange skirt by ZARA, Gold shoes with leather strap by Marlene Birger, Sunglasses by Polo Ralph Lauren
Do you tend to have a favorite seasonal shoe? I do. And this summer its my insanely cool pink high heels from Zara.
I remember this pair caught my eyes, already the first day they arrived the ZARA store in Oslo this spring. I took a glance and thought – cool shoes, but I would probably never wear them. And then a few weeks later, my colleague and Flingly girl, Ingebjørg, wore the exact same pair – matched with grey pants and a grey sweater. I was amazed. The outfit was extremely stylish, and I immediately regretted not buying the shoes when I could have. One week later, just in time for my windsurf holliday on Lanzarote, I bought the shoes and packed them together with my very casual “oh so aftersurf” clothes and my wetsuit and rashguards. I still wasn´t completely convinced that I would wear them during my 2 week holliday, but nevertheless – they made my suitcase look slightly more fashion than it normally does when going on a surf vacation.
And can you believe it? They have actually turned out to be my favorite pair of shoes this summer. Reason one: Coolness. Reason two: Comfortable (they actually really are).

PS: I have unfortunately turned into a ZARA junkie the last few months, its actually so serious that my boyfriend has changed his daily messages to me from “When do you leave work today?” into “When do you leave ZARA today?”. (A new slogan for ZARA??) Anyway, its actually a bit embarrassing…

Its been two years since I came across Cala & Jade for the first time. There was something continental about the brand that made me very qurious; had I finally found a Norwegian fashion brand worthy international attention?
While searching the Norwegian markets for my own brand ideas, I came upon this very exiting brand called Cala & Jade. I can’t explain exactly why I noticed it. Perhaps it was the continental touch that one would expect to find in the coolest shops in New York. There was something about the mixture of materials that was very exiting. The Gumma bag made of leather and kelim.
I am sure that most of my fellow Norwegians will agree with me when I say that for a long time Norwegian design has been very stereotypical represented by felt dresses in greens and lilacs. However, during the last few years things have improved. Better education opportunities within design, increased focus and fashion interest in general has been observed. In addition, young Norwegian designers have also been more business minded than ever before. They are also increasingly looking for inspiration throughout the European Continent rather than limiting themselves to fjords and glaciers. Yes, Norway is a beautiful country with its amazing nature and great living, but that is just not enough as a sole source of inspiration for innovative design and great fashion. However, and perhaps most important, Norwegians have finally learned to think big. Yes, we can! Sure, we have skilled and creative people making great things in Norway who in addition have what it takes to make it big worldwide. We can do it, so let’s start making fashion for people around the world – and I am pleased to see that Cala & Jade is already on its way.
CALA & JADE was established by the Norwegian design duo Nina Amble Sanaas and Tina C, Skaar who met while studying together for three years at ESMOD, the fashion school in Oslo. Having discovered that they shared a common childhood dream of creating their own fashion brand, they chose women’s wear as their field. Initially, having specialized in fur, they now went on to create leather bags. Their fascination for leather and obsession with developing new material techniques eventually became an essential part of their philosophy which lead to the creation of their fashion brand, CALA & JADE.
Never content with the ordinary, Nina and Tina wanted to design a refined looking bag that not only had the best quality leather, but also, somehow incorporated innovative functionality. The result was Gumma, a leather frame with with an interchangeable inner bag which effectively means that the look of the bag can be completely changed depending on mood, season, or style.
Cala & Jade – a childhood dream
They both had a childhood dream of creating something of their own. After three hardworking years at Esmod, Nina & Tina were ready for new adventures.
- During our studies at Esmod we were living in a small, but creative bubble, working together as a group and having a blast. After finishing school, the desire to create our own fashion brand became more important and in just a few weeks we started to work on our common vision, the girls say.
Their fascination for leather and development of new material techniques made them choose to start designing bags.
- We didn’t have much experience with accessories and leather, so we had quite a lot to learn both about leather and bags. We started researching and made our first bags out of our mothers old leather clothes.
The girls started a pre project and tested the bags among friends and retailers with an undercover name.
- Surprisingly to us, the response was very positive, and we immediately decided to go for it, to build our own dream. We knew it would be a tough process, but decided it was better to try to live our dream rather than later looking back with regret and not knowing what could have happened.
From there on they headed for Italy to learn about leather and find suppliers and a factory.
A big challenge to be small and unknown
Building a fashion brand isn’t all about having a great idea and the skills to design. It also means you have to cross the entry barriers that often is a “make or brake it” for new designers and entrepreneurs. To Nina and Tina the list of challenges worth mentioning is long. – Being small and unknown is difficult, and to us good quality materials & craftsmanship have been very important from day one, they agree. – However, such high quality goals, also makes the production process very expensive. This again makes it difficult to keep a large inventory unless you are solidly funded, which is not the case for most start-ups.

The girls still dream of eventually launching a clothing line, and are constantly drawing ideas that they put away and save for the future. Even though Cala & Jade are still fairly new and small in the market, their bags have probably become more known among Norwegian fashionists because of the girls cooperation with other Norwegian designers. They have been working with Celine Maktabi (Kelim carpets) and Mardou & Dean ( Norwegian Jeans brand). The girls are continuing with similar projects in the future. – We see it as a unique possibility to show Cala & Jade in new & different ways through creative work with others. It’s a great way to share experiences, building networks, expanding the horizon and showing the market the versatility of the Cala & Jade brand. And, not least, it’s great fun too! the girls conclude.
To Nina and Tina, the most positive experience as designers and entrepreneurs so far has been to see their bags on the street or in shops. – It’s fantastic every time, the girls agree.
Mini Gumma’s next season?
I love the Gumma Bag’s framework that may so easily change a bag’s appearance by replacing the inside. For those of you that love the Gumma bags, but prefer smaller bags, Cala & Jade might have a solution for you. We may expect to see some smaller Gumma bags during spring 2012. The girls secretly told me that they have planted a mini Gumma tree in Italy, and that they plan to harvest mini Gummas (Gumini) next spring…
